About
Known as one of the most irreverent writers online, Ash Ambirge has built an empire out of one belief: being boring is costing you millions.
Her award-winning blog, The Middle Finger Project, was one of the leading lifestyle blogs of its era when she first started writing publicly online in 2009. She then went on to start her first creative agency in her 20s, dedicated to helping boring brands get a personality. Ambirge's flagship book, also titled The Middle Finger Project (Penguin Random House) furthered the mission even more, as she traveled the world giving speeches and workshops and running retreats. Eventually, she developed various online courses and programs designed to help you live a better, more prosperous life by learning how to write more interesting things. Today, Ambirge writes, she consults, and teaches her methods to clients and students from around the world.
Approach
I have no business being a globe-trotting writer and business woman. I grew up curling my bangs in a trailer park, using food stamps to buy popsicles, dating boys who milked cows, bringing boom boxes to stone quarries, and thinking tinted car windows were the ultimate sign of prestige.
But, writing saved me. Writing always saves everyone, doesn't it? While I couldn't shape our circumstances, growing up, the one thing I could shape? Was how I presented myself on the page. I quickly learned that writing was the purest form of democracy there was. Appearances didn't matter. Income didn't matter. The car you drove didn't matter. The only thing that mattered were your ideas. And, if you had good ideas? You had leverage.
