How to Launch Your New Thing With *Joy*

I so needed to read this now! I am taking your advice and creating my first free/paid Substack newsletter from scratch with no subscribers and a very small following so far (gulp!) Do you think the steps you laid out here applies to e-newsletters? (Also I am TERRIFIED of going on camera and am allergic to social media).

  2. Dajana Holst says:

Launching is like planning a wedding 😅

    • Ash Ambirge says:

Minus the bridezilla! 😉 Then again, whenever I’m in real launch mode, I’m not to be messed with, either hahahahahahaha.

    • Ash Ambirge says:

I shall take this advice!!! Fortunately I am a salt hoe so I’ve got plenty of it around.

Also: Meat & Hair: I cannot tell you how many people are just completely like WHAT??? The other day I was chatting with my IP lawyer about it, and even she was like, THIS NAME. 🤣🤣🤣 But, hey, you’re not going to forget it, are you!

  3. Sue Moore says:

Love this. Bookmarked. Had so many launch event ideas while reading it. Leaning towards an anti-webinar (maybe I’ll call it WebiNO) Thanks for the inspo and hope you’re on the mend soon.

    • Ash Ambirge says:

It’s a shame they have such a bad rap – it can be super energizing & exciting, getting on live with your crew, and sharing what you are making. But the minute you say “webinar,” haha – red flags! 🚩 Then again, people sell millions on them every day so sometimes maybe it’s better just to keep things simple and not overthink it, right?!

      • Sue Moore says:

Yeah, I think I’ve been to a few icky ones which have left me avoidant! Nothing wrong with them in good hands.

  4. Jennifer McClain Singleton says:

God, I needed to hear this right now; thank you!
I’m not necessarily in “launch territory” (selling a paid newsletter and tiny books) … BUT I have got to remember to talk about what I sell. 🤭

    • Ash Ambirge says:

YES. And in my experience, if you don’t want to talk about it, it’s a big clue.

      • Jennifer McClain Singleton says:

Oh, I definitely WANT to talk about it. I’m just one of those people who’s convinced that talking about myself means I’m bothering everyone. 🙃 Something I need to work on for sure. And they can’t buy my books if I never tell anyone they’re for sale!

The Newsletter

Every week, we're exploring global culture through the lens of the home. From floorplans to fixtures, we examine how houses are built, designed, and decorated around the world (with a side of sass, of course!)

The Podcast

The only podcast where we pass on the pyramids and poke around in the plumbing. I’m Ash, and I'm, exploring the strange, smart, and wonderful ways houses are built, designed, and decorated around the world.

The Books

A new series of OTHER PEOPLE'S HOUSES books designed to help you try on a new life in different places around the world—by getting to "go behind closed doors" inside local homes to discover what it's really like to live there.
