hi, i'm ash!
Travel writer & host, cultural explorer, and architecture & interiors freak.
Every week, we're exploring global culture through the lens of the home. From floorplans to fixtures, we examine how houses are built, designed, and decorated around the world (with a side of sass, of course!)
The only podcast where we pass on the pyramids and poke around in the plumbing. Iβm Ash, and I'm, exploring the strange, smart, and wonderful ways houses are built, designed, and decorated around the world.
A new series of OTHER PEOPLE'S HOUSES books designed to help you try on a new life in different places around the worldβby getting to "go behind closed doors" inside local homes to discover what it's really like to live there.
OMG!!!! Talk about timing!!!! Thank you…thank you.
Oh no, LOL.
Yup! I have a client that says things like “you’re the expert, I trust you” and when I do, she doesn’t. Or even better, doesn’t want to do what everyone else is doing (even though what everyone else is doing works). Believe you me I’m all for thinking out of the box but if people have no clue what you do because the copy is so vague (trying to be different) …your’re fucked.
Sometimes its just not a good fit. And again why I always do a test project before getting into bed with a client…figuratively of course.
But your letters and the wording are perfect to make a clean break as a professional. Thank you <3
This article is so timely! Thank you!
This is gold! I’ve had to advise my colleagues that there are certain clients we prefer not to work with in the future, especially if they insist on “x, y, and or z”. I have not been great with setting boundaries with clients, but my new admin/ angel sent from heaven is amazing at it – and she is unafraid to have the difficult conversations and say “no”. She’s also had her phone on “do not disturb” for several years, while also being totally effective at her job. These two abilities officially make her my hero and savior.
Omg, having your phone on DND permanently is THE BEST LIFE HACK. I’m a follower of this lifestyle, too! π€£ Now, the slightest phone dings make me annoyed, because I’m so used to silence.
Alsoβhaving a neutral 3rd party can be such a gift…especially when it comes to billing inquiries. I’m so glad you have her!
She’s an old soul right out of the 1970s, when DND was any time we weren’t standing next to the phone that was permanently attached to the wall! Why didn’t I think of that?
She has taught me so much about “no”! I tell her how amazing she is daily <3
Should this be the name of someone’s new newsletter? π€£
Fabulous!
From an age long ago I still have your scripts from an product you’d created. Those scripts are tucked away in my CRM ready to go at the first scent of a high-maintenance client. I’ll be updating those emails with these today!
Happy Damn Friday!
THAT MAKES ME SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha, I should bring that back. π₯³
